What are the possible side effects of Emadrin?
If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Emadrin and seek emergency medical attention:

an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
-
unusual fever;
-
fast or irregular heartbeat;
-
anxiety, hallucinations, confusion, hyperactivity, or loss of consciousness;
-
agitation, disorientation, or unusual behavior;
-
seizures;
-
eye pain; or
-
a rash.
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Emadrin and talk to your doctor if you experience
-
a dry mouth,
-
large pupils or blurred vision,
-
drowsiness,
-
difficulty urinating or constipation,
-
upset stomach, or
-
decreased sweating.
Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
Side effects of Emadrin in details
Cardiovascular
Tachycardia; palpitations; orthostatic hypotension.
CNS
Disorientation; confusion; memory loss; hallucinations; agitation; nervousness; depression; drowsiness; giddiness; lightheadedness.
Dermatologic
Rash; urticaria; decreased sweating.
EENT
Mydriasis; blurred vision.
GI
Dry mouth; nausea; vomiting; epigastric distress; constipation; paralytic ileus.
Genitourinary
Urinary retention; urinary hesitancy.
Miscellaneous
Muscle weakness; acute suppurative parotitis; hyperthermia; heat stroke.
What is the most important information I should know about Emadrin?
- Emadrin may cause lightheadedness or blurred vision. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Emadrin. Using Emadrin alone, with certain other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or perform other potentially dangerous tasks.
- Emadrin may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. Alcohol, hot weather, exercise, and fever can increase these effects. To prevent them, sit up or stand slowly, especially in the morning. Also, sit or lie down at the first sign of dizziness, lightheadedness, or weakness.
- Do not become overheated in hot weather or during exercise or other activities; heatstroke may occur.
- Use Emadrin with extreme caution in CHILDREN. Safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant while taking Emadrin, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Emadrin during pregnancy. It is unknown if Emadrin is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using Emadrin, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Emadrin contraindications
Emadrin hydrochloride should not be used in angle-closure glaucoma although simple type glaucomas do not appear to be adversely affected.
